Woke up late today and now I have to go wash my teeth with my #bamboobrush. Now I’m sure most of you have heard about #plastic toothbrushes being terrible for the environment. Why they pose one of the worst threats for me is because it’s recommended to replace your brush every 3 months. This is because over time, the bristles start to break down and cannot clean your teeth as effectively. You should also change them sooner if you get a cold or mouth infection as the causative microbes 👾can remain between the bristles and perhaps cause a reinfection. 🤢🤮 As a result, individuals tend to discard them and not reuse them, in contrast to plastic bags and other plastic goods. Bamboo on the other hand, is degradable. I wouldn’t say they’re 💯 % #zerowaste as the bristles are still plastic, but it’s as close as one could get. However, once I got these goodies I used my old toothbrush for cleaning small corners in my bathroom 🛀 . So you can easily reuse your brushes for cleaning purposes. Some friends of mine also use it to brush their eyebrows or to smooth out their edges/baby hairs (which also saves 💵) and I love that 😍. So please don’t think #goingzerowastemeans throwing every non-ecofriendly product out the window 🙅🏻‍♀️❌ But it’s about getting the most out of your resources, which include food, clothes, and other materials. We need to be conscious that we live in a consumerist materialist society. And the average person in a first world country owns and buys more than they need. With advertising, celebrity endorsements and the rise of fast fashion we have even been taught and justified to that this is normal. When in fact I think it’s not. Do we really need 5 coats, 16 jackets, 47 pairs of shoes, a laptop, an iPad, an iPod, the latest new iPhone? Especially when most of the time one of these things can do the job pretty well, but why do we need to have it in every colour, pattern, shape and size? 🚯 ♻️ 🚯 ♻️ 🚯 ♻️ 🚯 #inreview #simpleindividual#zetowastemovement #bamboo #degrade#reduceyourcarbonfootprint👣#lovetheworld #buyless #ecofriendly#goingzerowaste #reuse #repurpose#zerowasteblog
