Kunafa is a dessert that is very popular in the Middle East. You'll find that there are variations to this dessert around the area. The traditional version is just the hair-like pastry with syrup and nuts baked in the oven until golden(-brown). Another popular option is kunafa filled with cream. But recently, there's been lots of different types of kunafas emerging: Nutella, fruit, custard, red velvet, peanut butter, etc. However, another option which has been around for years is Napoli kunafa- or kunafa with ricotta cheese! I know, I know-sounds revolting-right? But its's actually so delicious you won't believe you're eating cheese!
And this is what I ordered at kunafa Bakery.

I ordered a small Napoli kunafa, an orange juice and a bottle of water. It cost me 111 EGP- so about £4 !!
The kunafa was fantastic, the design of the place and the music they played was awesome-although I didn't understand it-hehe!

They even had little birds there- but I didn't like that they were in a cage.

However, the service was utterly terrible; firstly, they didn't have any waiters available to hand you menus or sit you down, so the chef had to give me one (the kitchen was open-air so you can see your kunafa being baked). Then, when I asked about at the ingredients of a smoothie he just laughed shyly and said he'll bring a waiter because he doesn't know. Then it took ages for a waiter to come by, even though I saw 2 of them enter the kitchen and when I looked back at them, they were laughing. Then it also took a while to get my cheque.
So basically, lovely kunafa, amazing atmosphere, reasonable price, great portions but terrible service.
